TOURISM chiefs are hoping to boost visitor numbers - by installing a huge spiral staircase overlooking a beauty spot.

They are hoping that their 300ft "Stairway to Heaven" will encourage people to visit the Taihang Mountains, in Linzhou, Henan province, China.
From the top of the huge structure, brave tourists can look out over the surrounding mountains and forests.
But the enormous trek isn't for the faint of heart, as climbers can expect to be buffetted by high winds.
An official explained: "Here the wind blows and batters them, the birds fly past them, the stairs creak.
"It is a lot more authentic than an elevator."
And anyone looking to climb the huge tower is asked to sign forms confirming that they have no heart or lung problems, and that they are aged under 60.
Another official joked: "If you got half way up and couldn't go any further, you might just have to stay there."
